And now for a little geography lesson...
This map shows the location of Malaysia in Asia: South of Thailand and West of Indonesia. "East Malaysia" (the states of Sabah and Sarawak) is part of the island of Borneo, which it shares with Indonesia. "West Malaysia" is the Southern end of the Malay Peninsula.
Here is my location in Terengganu, a predominantly rural Malay/Islamic state on the Northeast coast of West Malaysia.
Here you can see the location of my host institution, the Turtle Conservation Centre, in Kampung Mangkok (kampung means village). We are at the mouth of the Setiu river on the coast of the South China Sea.
